Naga College Foundation welcomed Ms. Maria Theresa N. Villa, Environment, Science & Technology Health Specialist and Dr. Dovas A. Saulys, Environment, Science & and Energy Officer last March 10, 2010. Both are representatives from the US Embassy who focused their visit on Bicol Region’s eco-tours. However, citing that the Bicol Region is usually at the core of disasters, their visit likewise gathered information on ‘disaster risk reduction management practices’ in the region as Dr. Saulys believes that people here should learn how to live with adversities.

Their first stop was at the Typhoon Preparedness Center where they were welcomed by Mr. David Michael V. Padua, TPC Director and Ms. Marivic V. Balance, Center for Social Responsibility Director. Mr. Padua shared with them the reason of the establishment of the Center in 2008. Besides research, the Typhoon Preparedness Center’s main purpose is to provide early warnings to townspeople and to give them education and training in preparing themselves for future environmental disasters.
Before the guests left the TPC Office for a campus tour, they were able to meet Dr. (Capt.) Roland P. Villanueva, Consultant for External Affairs and Member of the Board of Trustees.
Ms. Villa and Dr. Saulys were warmly welcomed by the different offices and officials of the school. They were able to meet Ms. Emerita V. Padua (VP for Finance), Dr. Aaron O. Antonio (Executive VP) and Dr. Carlo P. Villanueva Sr. (School President).
